Technically, the Phaeton came to market first, so it may be more appropriate to call the Bentley a rebadged Phaeton. ;)

In all honesty, a rebadged A8 would probably make more sense since VW has nothing above the Passat in terms of their sedan lineup.

But, then the Phaeton wouldn't have been as insane as it was, since its underpinning was Bentley based.
